Beijing and London – 2 June 2014 –Thundersoft has today announced a partnership with Trustonic to introduce secure mobile services to its expansive customer base of smartphone manufacturers supplying developing markets.
The GSMA predicts 1.9 billion mobile users in Asia Pacific by 2017, and that growth will be fuelled by a diverse market of entry level and full-feature smartphones. Android is predicted the biggest share, but present day security vulnerabilities such as malware and keyloggers undermine access to high value services such as payments, content delivery and enterprise mobility. The Trustonic ‹t™-base Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) addresses these concerns with an isolated security platform that protects user data and the integrity of apps on Android smartphones.
Thundersoft CEO Larry Geng commented: “TEE technology is virtually unknown in China, but it presents the opportunity to bring high value services to developing markets. We believe its enhanced security will simplify user experiences, enhance the quality of services available through apps, and enrich users’ lives. Our partnership with Trustonic will deliver improved security for all.”
Trustonic CEO Ben Cade commented: “Thundersoft excels at bringing mobile devices to market in collaboration with processor and device manufacturers. We are excited to partner with Thundersoft to bring TEE-enhanced security to a broad range of smartphones, and enable our security developer ecosystem to deliver faster payments, access to premium content and enterprise class apps on Android devices for developing markets.”
Thundersoft provides software and driver integration services to more than 100 smartphone makers globally, and has helped create hundreds of models. In joining the Trustonic ecosystem, Thundersoft gains access to the technology and expertise to integrate <t-base into devices and address the urgent requirement for improved Android security.
The Trustonic <t-base TEE provides advanced security features, offering Thundersoft partners a ready-developed security platform supported by a rapidly growing ecosystem of more than 40 security app developers and service partners. Trustonic partners rely on <t-base to protect biometric processing, user data entry, secure display of data and content, user authentication processes and cryptography keys, tokens and policies from malware attacks.
“Security and trusted environments are at the core of today’s digital mobile experiences and economies,” said Ian Drew, chief marketing officer and executive vice president of business development, ARM. “The combination of Thundersoft and Trustonic’s solutions will accelerate the deployment of secure mobile platforms in Asia making it quicker and easier for the next billion smart devices to use trusted applications built on the hardware security foundations of ARM® TrustZone® technology.“
